Community Council’s Annual WinterFest to Be Held at Levittown Hall February 13

Activities Are Free at Event

Levittown Community Council’s 9th Annual WinterFest will be held at Levittown Hall for the first time this year. Residents of Levittown, Island Trees and neighboring communities are invited to attend the event, which runs from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Levittown Hall is located at 201 Levittown Parkway in Hicksville and can be contacted at 516-933-6400.

WinterFest is a free community event that provides activities and entertainment for families in addition to exposure to community organizations and services. Free raffles for prizes are held throughout the day for adults. Children are kept entertained with a wide variety of free arts and crafts, face painting, temporary tattoos, and are fascinated by the balloon sculpting and magic of MsMatch the Clown and the amazing demonstrations by Steve the Scientist.

The incredible working model railroad exhibit by Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers awes adults and children, alike.

The event has attracted upwards of 600 people each year and has become a Levittown tradition in addition to a hallmark event for the Community Council. All activities are free and refreshments are available at very minimal cost.

Organizations interested in having a table to exhibit their materials at the event or to attract membership should contact Louise Cassano, chairperson, at 516-735-5901 or by e-mail at levittowncouncil@yahoo.com. Membership in the Community Council, which costs $50 a year, is required and is restricted to organizations in the areas comprising the Levittown and Island Trees school districts.

An imposition of escalated custodial fees by the Levittown School District Board of Education led to the change of venue from the Levittown Memorial Education Center where the event had been held for the past eight years.
