Dance Your Health Out
Do you want to dance? As part of a national initiative by Spirit of Women to promote heart health, Winthrop-University Hospital is inviting the community to “Dance Your Health Out.” The free program will be held at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Blvd., corner of Second St., Mineola, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature group dancing, dancing demonstrations, Karaoke by Winthrop staff, health screenings, educational information, and activities for children.

Driving in the Safe Lane Program
The 90-minute lecture program will be held at Holy Trinity High School, 98 Cherry Ln., Hicksville, at 7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public. The program brings together law enforcement, the medical community, the business community and the parent of a teen driver who was killed in a car crash. The program educates and raises awareness of the issue for parents, new and prospective teen drivers about safety measures, New York State driving laws, and parental responsibilities and liabilities.

LI Crisis Center Seeks Volunteers
LI Crisis Center, the oldest 24-hour, seven-day-a-week crisis intervention and suicide prevention hotline, is looking for volunteers for the upcoming Volunteer Counselor Training Program. Those interested in becoming a volunteer telephone crisis intervention counselor with LICC must first call 826-0244 to schedule an interview. No experience is necessary to volunteer and the hours are flexible to fit the individual needs of volunteers. All counselors must begin with orientation training. The free comprehensive orientation training program takes place over three evenings in LICC’s office in Bellmore. LICC’s next training sessions will be held March 4, 11 and 18 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Bethpage St. Patrick’s Parade
The parade starts immediately after the 1 p.m. Mass at St. Martin of Tours Church ends. The parade route begins on Central Ave., Bethpage, down Stewart Ave. and returning on Broadway to the Showmobile where the Grand Marshal and elected officials will review the parade. Featured in this year’s parade are the FDNY Pipes and Drums, the American Celtic Pipe Band, the Tara Band and the NC Firefighters Pipe Band along with veteran’s groups, historic re-enactment groups, AOH members, fire departments, scouts and the perennial favorite – the K-9 Brigade. She gently guides the healing process to help people come to terms with their feelings of sadness and loss.
