The MacArthur students, faculty and staff welcomed their alumni back to a spectacular homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 2. This year’s theme, “MacArthur Magic –Believe!” reflected the perfect weather, joyful parade, celebratory festivities, and football victory that were enjoyed by all.
Assistant Superintendent of Schools Debbie Rifkin, Levittown School Board President Michael Pappas, Vice-President Peter Porrazzo, Secretary Kevin Regan, Trustee James Moran, and Principal Kathleen Valentino led the parade. The MacArthur High School Marching Band led an array of clubs and teams, each sporting banners, up Wantagh Avenue to the school field. A highlight of the parade was the entourage of luxury convertibles escorting a dazzling homecoming court: Vincent Danetti, Michael Koslowski, Aaron Landman, Nicholas Meadows, Christopher Perez, Jessica Gattus, Haylee Guarascio, Taylor Kenney, Gabrielle Mirasola, and Maureen Ryan.
Gladys Guerrero and Rebecca Kollmer introduced senior Generals, cheerleaders, and band ensemble members as they were escorted by parents onto centerfield for pictures. Last year’s Homecoming King and Queen, Michael Reilly and Nicole Crew were on hand to crown this year’s honorees: Michael Koslowski and Gabrielle Mirasola.
The half-time spectacular, featuring the Marching Band, the Color Guard, the Cheerleaders and the MacEttes entertained students, alumni, faculty, parents, friends and loyal supporters. The Key Club proudly accepted congratulations for the winning banner.
Assistant Principal Joe Sheehan emceed the festivities that were directed by Jackie Levine, and Social Studies Chairperson Steve Costello gave the play-by-play of the game, which brought a 41-14 win for MacArthur against Hempstead. A magical day, indeed!
