This winter the MacArthur Boys Track and Field team looks to continue and expand upon their success from last year. The boys’ team expects to be one of the top teams in their conference and possibly Nassau County.
Seniors Vin Danetti and Mike Hester lead the Generals distance squad. Juniors Kenny Balling and Joe McClean support them. Many great performances are also expected from underclassman talents Sean Aquilino and Yuri Triglia, who are both coming off an impressive Cross-Country season.
Senior captain Dan Archer leads the MacArthur sprinters. Mike Camacho and Erik Chevez are looking to have breakout seasons after their late surge last spring. The three boys and newcomer Andrei Dinore are looking to reclaim their title as Nassau County’s fastest 4×200 meter relay team and compete at the state meet. Senior Mike Prudente is looking to compete at the County level in the low sprints.
In the field the General’s look to excel behind senior captain Sean Conrad in long jump and triple jump. Dylan Pearce and Matt Norcini are leading the underclassman in following their captains’ ways. Senior captain Mike Lombardo and junior Paul Cigna are leading a long awaited comeback for the shot-putters. After coming off a great lifting program this summer and fall they are looking into setting new distances for the younger boys to chase.
Overall the General’s are loaded with talent and are expected to be one of Nassau County’s top teams and looking to send multiple athletes up to this year’s state meet at Cornell University, and the National Meet in Boston at the end of the season.
