There’s a new garden in town. If you’re in the vicinity of the East Village Green, check out the southwest corner of the park near the Jerusalem Avenue pool. The Levittown Community installed the garden as a community service and part of its 5th Annual Earth Day event. The beautification included clean up and replacement of dead bushes with grasses near the pool entrance
Ricky Sculco of Distinctive Land Design provided labor and know-how. He also donated all of the soil needed to fill the new planter box. Al DeBatto and Justin Bristoll of Big Al’s Landscaping, and Gene Judd of Island Greenery donated the plants.
The event, as well as the clean ups that took place in the afternoon, were chaired by Levittown Community Council directors Pat Patane and Tom Kohlman, who arranged for the donations and Town of Hempstead approval of the project and prepared the itinerary for the day.
In addition to the chairs, volunteers at the garden planting included Don Patane, Mauro and Louise Cassano, Lowell and Mary Wolf.
