Obituary: William G. Birnbach

William G. Birnbach, longtime resident of Bethpage, passed away April 15, 2012 at the age of 77. He was predeceased by his parents, William J. and Celestine (nee Flickinger). Born and raised in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Canisius H.S. and Parks College, St. Louis University. His career in aviation began with two years active duty in the United States Air Force, followed by more than 30 years in the Air Force Reserves. He retired as a Lt. Colonel. His civilian career included roles at various aviation related companies, most prominently at Lufthansa and Aer Lingus. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lorraine (nee Kleiman); three children, William (Lori), Ingrid Keag (Brendan); and eight grandchildren, William, Kyra Lynn, Alexander, Nicholas, Jennifer, Christopher, Sophia and Catherine. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held April 20 at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Interment with military honors at Calverton National Cemetery.
