A Night of Improv

The Sarah Grace Foundation For Children With Cancer, Inc., will hold its 2nd Annual Theatrical Fundraiser, “Unrehearsed: A Night of Improv,” at 7 p.m. on June 1 and June 2 in the Hicksville United Methodist Church Social Hall, 130 West Old Country Rd., Hicksville. The family-oriented show will be similar to the popular improvisational comedy television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? Tickets, which are $12 per person, can be purchased at the door or in advance by visiting www.TheSarahGraceFoundation.org or calling The Sarah Grace Foundation at 516-433-9745. Proceeds will benefit the Long Island-based non-profit corporation dedicated to helping other children and their families facing the financial and emotional challenges and hardships brought upon by childhood cancer.

Car Wash

Drive your cars and vans to the parking lot behind the Wantagh 5&10/Hemmingways between 10 a.m. and to 1:30 p.m. where Boy Scouts from Troop 96 will make them spotless. All proceeds including raffle prices provided by Starbucks will be donated to the food pantry of the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church which works with the Freeport Pantry. Sponsored by the Lions Club and American Legion of Levittown. 4 to 8:30 p.m. at Post 1711, 2123 N. Jerusalem Ave. Eligibility criteria: bring ID with signature or photo, minimum weight 110 pounds, age 16 to 75 (16 year olds must have parental permission), eat well (low fat) and drink fluids, no tattoos for the past 12 months. North Shore Pops Concert Band

Save A Life – Volunteer

Long Island Crisis Center, the 24 hour-a-day, seven day-a-week suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline, is currently recruiting volunteers to participate in its upcoming Counselor Assistant Training Program. No experience is necessary and the hours are flexible (around-the-clock) to accommodate the individual needs of volunteers. The free, comprehensive orientation training program takes place over three-hour sessions at the Crisis Center’s office in Bellmore. June’s training will be held on three successive Mondays from 7 to 10 p.m. on June 11, 18 and 25. July’s training will be held on three successive Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 14, 21 and 28. Gypsy

The TBT Players in conjunction with the Temple B’nai Torah (2900 Jerusalem Ave., Wantagh) Capital Campaign Fund will present Rabbi Marci Bellows as Mama Rose in the musical Gypsy. Perri Levine will play legendary Gypsy Rose Lee. Performances begin June 16 for a limited run. As part of the fund raising effort, prior to single ticket sales, Rabbi Circle Seating along the Gypsy runway can be secured with a donation to the temple Capital Fund. Advertisers and individuals who make a donation will receive an invitation to the gala Opening Night party with egg rolls from JANI and cookies from Felicia’s Fabulous Bakery. Garage Sale

YES Community Counseling Center, 75 Grand Ave., Massapequa, will be conducting its Annual Garage Sale on June 30 (rain date July 1) at the back of the offices (New York Ave. between Central Ave. and Hicksville Rd.) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. YES will be collecting items, old and new (but saleable). Lazy Days Of Summer Picnic

Plans are underway for the Levittown Community Council’s annual Lazy Days of Summer Picnic to be held at the East Village Green on Jerusalem Ave. on July 7. There will be free entertainment, activities and crafts at the event, which is a fun family day for all, paid for by membership fees and local business donations. Vendors Wanted For Flea Market

Vendors wanted for the Temple B’nai Torah of Wantagh, 2900 Jerusalem Ave., rain or shine Summer Flea Market on July 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sell your merchandise or promote your business in a spacious parking lot or the air-conditioned social hall and small party room in case of inclement weather to shoppers from the South Shore of Nassau County including Wantagh, Merrick, Bellmore, Seaford, East Meadow, Levittown, Massapequa, as well as parts of Suffolk and Queens County. Soldiers Angels

Soldiers Angels sends care packs to deployed troops all through the year. Cards and letters for our deployed troops, local veterans and for our wounded heroes are also needed. KWVA is seeking all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and UN Command during the Korean War between Sept. 3, 1945 to Jan. 31, 1955 or Feb. 1, 1955 to the present. You did not have to have served in Korea to be a member.

•Pet Loss Support Group for people who feel very sad about the loss or serious illness of their cat or dog. Levittown Historical Society And Museum

The organization collects, preserves and educates history of Levittown. Holds seven yearly general meetings in the Community Room of the Levittown Library and maintains the museum located in the Levittown Memorial Education Center, Room 10, 150 Abbey Ln., Levittown. The museum contains history of Levittown, WWII memorabilia, artifacts from the Levitt houses, toys, furniture, clothing of the ‘40s and ‘50s, replicas of the Levitt kitchen and the Levitt ranch living room. Senior Center

Catholic Charities Seaford Community Service Center, located in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 2197 Jackson Ave., Seaford, welcomes persons age 60 and over to its multi-purpose senior center. Delicious hot meals are served daily and transportation is provided in the towns of Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa and Massapequa Park.
