Levittown Swimming Association Ends Another Successful Season

The Levittown Swimming Association (LSA) wrapped up its 2012 season, with Slate Lane pool returning as champions. In an exciting turn, the Bluegrass team etched out a second place finish over Acorn by a single point, proving that every event matters.

“This season was a tremendous success,” said LSA President Ed Taylor. “The season went off remarkably well.” LSA has been keeping Levittown residents from eight to 18 active each summer for more than 50 years. “I think all of our 450 swimmers certainly had a fun season,” said LSA Vice President Steven Dalton.

In addition to its swim meets, the Levittown Swimming Association also helps local charities. At its annual Swim-a-Thon, the organization raised $3,000 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island and the YES Community Counseling Center, which is opening up in the former YOM building on Center Lane in Levittown.

Over a dozen of LSA’s seasoned swimmers finished their summer careers this year as they “aged out.” The organization marked this occasion by presenting them with a plaque and a large framed photograph of them mid-stroke.

So, while the swimmers return to school and their fall activities, LSA begins preparing for the 2013 season.
