Obituary: Kenneth Hartly Swearingen

Swearingen, Kenneth Hartly, 90, died on Jan. 17, at his daughter’s home in Brookline, NH. He was born on July 30, 1922 in Claremont, SD, son of Joseph Swearingen and Myrtle (Freeland) Jones. Husband of the late Ruth M. (Heimburger) Swearingen. Prior to her death on Nov. 3, 1991 they had shared almost 49 years of marriage. 

Swearingen served his country proudly during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Following his service he worked as a carpenter and then went to work as a sorter for the U.S. Post Office. He enjoyed cutting trees, and made a point to visit Granny’s Restaurant whenever he was in Homosassa, FL. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Hartly Swearingen II of Plano, TX; a daughter, Marlene Morgan of Brookline, NH; Four grandsons, Keith, Matthew, Trevor and Evan; and two great-granddaughters, Jade and Abigail. Graveside Service was held on Jan. 21 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Brookline, NH. Contributions can be made to Meals on Wheels – Milford, NH, P.O.
