Walk Raises $5,001

Despite a snow delay, the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at North Shore-LIJ second annual walk exceeded the financial success of the first one by more than $600, raising $5,001.

While attendance was down, donations were up as members of the downstate area K-Family rallied to support the KPTCenter at North Shore-LIJ.

Hosted once again by LIU-Post Circle K on the indoor track at the Pratt Recreation Center, The KPTC Service Leadership Committee’s 2nd Walk was as much a dance party as it was a walk. Levittown’s DJ Tim Aldridge returned to help attendees celebrate their fundraising success.

As the fundraiser neared its end, totals from the walk T-shirt ads, the pre-walk pancake breakfast and the jewelry sale were added. While the walk would exceed the funds raised at last year’s walk, it appeared that the KPTC Service Leadership Committee would fall short of its goal to raise over $5,000.

However, the KPTC Service Leadership Committee would not be allowed to miss its goal. While the KPTC Service Leadership Committee honored Levittowner Ann Torcivia for her generous support of all the committee’s activities with the KPTC Service Leadership Fellowship, Ann came through again for the committee and donated $201 from her son’s foundation to put the committee over its $5,000 goal.
