The athletic skills of the Generals soccer program are off to a fierce start with both teams stacked with a roster of heavy talent.
After six games Goalie Kevin Mayer has amassed five shutouts with just two goals against in large part due to the smart and talented defensive skills of Greg Baumstein, Joe Giammarusco and Chris Roditis.
The offensive quick foot work of Frank Miceli, James Barrett, Patrick Hurley and Dean Peluso has allowed the Generals to score in every game so far.
On the girls side goalie Nicole Torres has racked up 23 saves after playing in 3 games and Sam Santeramo tallied 10 saves in 2 games. The season includes selfless assists by Tara Lyons, Nicole Greenwald, Arianna Montefusco, Marissa
Cannella and Katie Gerdes as they are off to a 2-1-2 season recording their only loss against Massapequa.
“We need improvement on finding the back of the net. Scoring has been an ongoing issue with our team over the past year and we have been working extremely hard on every kind of shot possible,” said Coach Defede Towers. “We have definitely seen improvements and will continue to do so as the season progresses; we are positive that the MacArthur Girls’ Varsity Soccer team will keep the goals coming!”
