The Hicksville Community Council’s “Meet the Candidates” on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Hicksville Community Center, in Hicksville is canceled.

Oktoberfest

County’s 2nd Annual Oktoberfest at Eisenhower Park. Enjoy live music, German food, beer and more on Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6 from noon to 5 p.m. Call 516-572-0200 for information.

Diva Half Marathon

A fun half marathon and 5k run on Oct. 6 at Eisenhower Park, beginning at 8 a.m.

Craft Bazaar

The Levittown Senior Center will hold its craft bazaar on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again on Friday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center, 555 North Newbridge Road in Levittown. Includes jewelry, crafts, Sorry table, home baked goods, grandma table, knitted goods, raffles and prizes. All are welcome, free admission. Call 516-433-5454 for information.

Fire Prevention Open House with the Levittown Fire Department will be held on Oct. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. Gardiner’s Avenue.

Halloween Party

Gift Basket Bingo

The Levittown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will host Gift Basket Bingo on Oct. 19 at Levittown Hall on Levittown Parkway in Hicksville. Proceeds benefit the Levittown Fire Department. The Levittown Historical Society hosts its annual youth talent contest for children of the Levittown and Island Trees school districts. Oct. 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Levittown Hall, Levittown Parkway in Hicksville.

Levittown’s Oldest Landmark

The Levittown Historical Society looks at the history of the historic 1856 St. John’s of Jerusalem Church on Wantagh Avenue. Oct. 21, at 7:30pm Levittown Public Library.

Homecoming

MacArthur High School will hold its Homecoming celebration on Oct. 26. The parade begins at noon. The football game begins at 2 p.m. at 3369 Old Jerusalem Road. Call 516-520-8450 for information.

Walk and Fair

L.E.A.D.D. Walk and Fair will be held on Oct. 27.  Walk starts at 10 a.m. and the Fair runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Show and Tell 

The Society invites members and the public to bring in a family heirloom or conversation piece of historic significance to share with the audience. Established in 1988, the Levittown Historical Society is a nonprofit educational institution of volunteers dedicated to preserving the legacy of William J. Levitt, the world-famous suburban town he and his family built for homecoming GIs, and the rural communities that preceded it. To that end, the society maintains an open-to-the-public museum at the Levittown Memorial Education Center, hosts educational forums, and participates in community events.
