Lady Dragons End Season

On Friday, Oct. 18, the girls’ varsity soccer team ended their season with an exciting 1-0 win over Oyster Bay High School. Wins were not easy to come by this season for the Lady Dragons as they went 4-3-5 in conference play. The girls missed the playoffs by one point this season. This is only the sixth time in the last 30 years that the playoffs were out of reach for the Blue Dragons.

While wins were hard to come by, loses did not pile up either as was evident by five very close games ending in ties. In this rebuilding year these young Lady Dragons remain positive and hope to turn these five conference ties into wins next season and start on the road back towards another conference crown.

The number of girls on this year’s squad was dominated by the junior class. All 10 juniors played major roles for the Blue Dragons this season.

Gabrielle Caba, Krysten Garcia, Ryan Kenney, Jackie McCreary, Ellen Sioris, and Morgan Ward all were valuable parts of a very stingy defense. Roaming the midfield were Bianca Ortiz, Melissa Pedreros, and Keleyna Romoleraux. While Faith Ginther helped spark the offense.

The Lady Dragons have high expectations for next year with such a large group of experienced players returning.
