The gray apple, check mark, green circle with the siren. Some logos are unforgettable and now local high school students have a chance to make a signature brand for The Greater Westbury Council for the Arts (GWCA)’s logo contest.

The Greater Westbury Council for the Arts is looking for a new logo.
The  arts council is looking for a new logo.

The winning logo will be used in all GWAC media, including press releases, social media platforms, and more. The winner will receive a complimentary membership to the GWCA as well as a monetary award.

GWCA president Rocco Lanzillota said that the group decided to open up the contest to high school students because they thought it would be a great way to get the youth involved.

“There’s so much talent with our youth so we thought it’d be a wonderful opportunity to reach out to local area high schools,” said Lanzilotta. “There’s so many accomplished art departments and we thought this would be a great opportunity to showcase them.”

Logos need to incorporate the words, “Greater Westbury Council for the Arts” and should reflect their mission statement of attracting, developing and promoting arts and culture throughout Westbury. They also have to be usable in both color and black and white.

“We’re looking for something to represent the council and students have full reign on how they perceive it,” says Lanzilotta. “We’re very excited and can’t wait to see what will come forward.”

The contest is open to any high school student in the Westbury area. The deadline is for submissions is June 9.  For more information, email GWCftA@gmail.com
