Gardens and fairy tales go well together, but how did this relationship develop?
This weekend, visit the Cottage Garden drop-in information station at Old Westbury Gardens, now graced with bright mid-spring blooms, to discover how plant life plays a prominent role in many classic fairytales, such as Hansel & Gretel or The Princess and the Pea.
Pull up a toadstool and sow your own fabled flora to take home and make your backyard the fairest in the land.
Saturday, June 14, from noon-1 p.m. All ages. No registration required, but supplies are limited. Free with admission to the Gardens: $10 General; $5 ages 7-17. Ages 6 and under are free.
