The next planning session of the Levittown Public School District Board of Education will be held at 7:30 p.m. on July 23, at the Levittown Memorial Education Center, 150 Abbey Lane in Levittown.
Noontime Concert Series: Stan and Edie

Lazy Days of Summer Picnic
On July 26, join the Levittown Community Council from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. for the annual Lazy Days of Summer Picnic at the East Village Green Park on Jerusalem Ave. in Levittown. This event is free of charge and fun for the whole family. “This is always a great event,” said Community Council Co-President Tom Kohlman. “We offer a lot of families and kids…bounce house, pony rides, a petting zoo, basketball games, food, the whole works. It’s a nice day.”
Family Bowling Night
On July 26, join AMF Bowling Center at 1300 Wantagh Ave., from 8-10 p.m. for a fun-filled evening of bowling with family, friends, and members of the Forgotten Friends Animal Rescue. Admission is $20 per person and includes bowling shoes, two hours of bowling, pizza and soda. There will also be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will go to help provide top quality care for all of the animals housed at the Rescue’s new center in Levittown. For more information contact 516-781-1460.

Darlene Prince and the Bragg Hollow Band
On July 28, come to Levittown Veterans Memorial Park at 8 p.m. for a free performance from country musician Darlene Prince and the Bragg Hollow Band.
Scandinavian-American Night
On July 28, come to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, at 7:30 p.m. for a free performance of some traditional Scandinavian music. Feel free to bring blankets and chairs as this is an outdoor event.
Walk ‘n Talk Singles
Singles can meet at Jones Beach Field 6 at 5:30 p.m., on July 28, for stretching and socializing over a walk along the beach. Afterward, singles have the option of gathering at a local diner. Prior to the event, call 917-683-0593 for more information.

Erik’s Reptile Edventures
On July 30, come to Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pkwy. in Hicksville, at 10:30 a.m., for this free “edventure” designed to teach youngsters about the importance of science and nature and learn more about reptiles, amphibians and bugs.
Summer Programs
Sports Camp
The Levittown-Island Trees Youth Council will host a sports camp program for students in grades 4-8 and grades 9-12 from 8-9 a.m. every weekday from now through Aug. 22. For more information contact the Island Trees Director of Physical Education and Athletics at 516-520-2173.
Chorus
From now through July 25, the Island Trees Memorial Middle School will be holding a summer program for students in grades 4-12 who wish to learn vocal techniques that will help them sing all different styles of music.
Most of all this program is geared towards the further development of musicianship through a vocal setting. Students will receive one hour of lessons and rehersal a day, all leading up to an exciting concert on July 25. This offering is dependent upon sufficient student enrollment and is limited to the first 40 applicants.
Instrumental Music
From now through July 25, the Island Trees Memorial Middle School will be holding a summer program for students in grades 5-12 who wish to continue their studies over the summer.
Fourth graders will also be offered a course to study the instrument of his/her choosing. At the end of the program each child will be evaluated and recommendations made to parents. Sessions will be held from 8 a.m.-noon every weekday.
