Shields Hardware marks its annual celebration of dogs of all kind. In addition to serving as a gathering of some of Port’s cutest residents, TJ Day—a celebration that grew out of TJ winning a calendar contest in 2011—featured face painting and tattoos (for kids), along with goodie bags for the dogs and hot dogs and popcorn. Money made from the event was given to Shelter Connection, the volunteers who train North Hempstead Town Shelter dogs so they can be adopted.
