The Island Trees Girls Varsity Soccer team has been working very hard since achieving the title of conference champs last season and moving up to the top conference. Despite suffering several season-ending injuries, the Island Trees Lady Dawgs have managed to outscore their opponents thus far by two goals. The incredible defense, led by Megan Fischer, Katie Paz, and Ashley Jones, has shut down many key offensive threats. Keeper Brianna Wilson currently has four shutouts and 105 saves.
With tremendous speed up top, senior Alexa Dolgos has racked up three goals and four assists. Melissa Jorgensen’s picture-perfect corners and crosses have assisted the team with seven goals. Juniors Alicia Buchanan and Nicole Mignone combine for nine goals and one assist. Michelle Merrill and Jess Petry have both been key factors in the team’s success on the left side of the field with great field vision and powerful shots.
