Dividing the Levittown and Island Trees school district into seven areas, volunteers from the Levittown Community Council scout the community for the best decorated homes days before Christmas day.
This year’s winners are Eddie Parke of Blacksmith Road South in the northwest area; Heidi Bowers of Barnyard Lane in the Southwest area; and Doug and Rita Hatter of Lawrence Drive in Wantagh in the Forest City and South Levittown area.
The southeast and northeast regions are each divided into two sections. In the Southeast 1 section, the home of Wendy and Bret Gallin of Sunrise Lane was selected; in the Southeast 2 section the home of Mike Smith on Parker Ave. in Plainedge was chosen. Smith’s helpers were his wife Dale, his son Chris and Chris’ girlfriend Gaby.
In the northeast 1 section, the home of Leo and Jennifer Rivera on Eagle Lane was selected. The Riveras just recently moved into Levittown and were “ecstatic” over their home’s selection. In the northeast 2 section, the Moore Family home on Cardinal Lane was chosen.
Winners will be introduced and recognized at the Levittown Community Council’s WinterFest, scheduled for Feb. 14 at Levittown Hall. Each family will receive a check and a free one-year membership in the Levittown Community Council.
Judges for this year’s event included Howard Bisk in the northwest; Mary Kay and Trevor Ross in the southwest; Don and Pat Patane in southeast 1; Susan Stalzer and Steve Verolla in southeast 2; Frank McKenna in northeast 1; Irene Sabatasso, Paul Baynes and Stephen Grippi in northeast 2; and Tom and Irene Kohlman in Forest City/South Levittown.
