The Holiday Inn Westbury’s recent Hawaiian luau fundraiser surpassed all expectations, raising $16,633 for Angela’s House, a Long Island charity that provides services for medically frail children. Attendees enjoyed Hawaiian-inspired fare and tropical drinks, as well as entertainment from luau dancers in the hotel’s garden courtyard which was transformed into a tropical paradise. But most importantly, the sold-out event helped highlight Angela’s House and the important work they do.
The money raised from the event will go toward buying medical supplies and equipment. Angela’s House founder Bob Policastro, who started the organization in honor of his daughter, said it was a pleasure working with the Holiday Inn staff.
“It was amazing how they took our mission to heart and understood the importance of our work to assist families caring for medically fragile children,” Policastro said. “They took what they felt and put it into the event with a great spiritual passion. It is amazing how they gave of themselves to help other. We feel blessed to have met them and be a part of this special event.”
Holiday Inn Westbury General Manager Franklin Manchester thanked his team and the Holiday Inn management for helping to make the event one to remember.
“I would just like to recognize and thank Mr. and Mrs. Barry and Ellen Halperin, the owners and operators of the hotel for their support of the Holiday Inn Westbury team, and thank them for their generosity in funding the event, as all money collected for the event and throughout the event went to Angela’s House,” Manchester said. “I would also like to thank our team for doing all they did to make the event a successful one. They all worked tirelessly for months leading up to the event, and specially the day of. Lastly, I want to thank all of our sponsors and attendees, because without their support none of this would have been possible.”
