GEICO’s Region II associates from Levittown were recently recognized for their exceptional giving efforts to United Way of Long Island with a “Thanks-A-Million” Day event to acknowledge their record breaking pledge of $1,000,000 to United Way. All day, United Way’s staff, volunteers and veterans were on site to recognize and thank GEICO associates for their dedication to giving back to their communities.
GEICO associates pledged more than $1,000,000 through their payroll deduction giving campaign, which helps support charities that give back to Long Island communities. This gift was one of the lead employee supported donations in the history of the United Way of Long Island’s giving campaigns. To show its appreciation for their generosity, United Way of Long Island went to the GEICO Region II location in Woodbury, to thank the 3,000 associates for their support throughout this campaign.
As part of GEICO’s “Thanks-A-Million” Day, United Way of Long Island presented each associate a special certificate acknowledging their gift and signed by both the President and CEO of United Way of Long Island, Theresa Regnante and the GEICO Regional Vice President and United Way of Long Island Board Member, John Pham. Adding the day, “thanks-a-million” candy bars were offered to all associates, showing the organization’s “sweet gratitude.”
“We can sometimes forget that there are thousands of Long Islanders who are in desperate need of assistance, and giving back to United Way of Long Islanders allows me to contribute to bettering those lives,” said GEICO associate Laura Gramstad of Levittown. Fellow GEICO associates Sharon Beirne-Cooper, Pat Beirne, Laura Licul, Jennifer DeCicco, Nancy Barca, Elizabeth Matosly, Rodrigo Vicencio, Joseph Siri, Tran Tobin, Christopher Mason, Inderjit Kaur, James Harbach, Nancy Rodriguez, and Deborah Kienle gathered for a group photo.
Theresa Regnante, president and CEO of United Way of Long Island, commented on the impact GEICO associates generosity has had on United Way of Long Island.
“The opportunity to personally thank GEICO associates for their continued support of United Way is extremely important as the impact that they make on the Long Island community is insurmountable,” she said. “This year pledge from the GEICO associates is record-breaking and they deserved to be recognized for this incredible accomplishment.”
