Adoption Jitterbug

This girl is gonna put the boom boom into your heart! Jitterbug is a gorgeous American Staffordshire Terrier Mix, estimated to be between two and three years old. This little nugget of happiness was initially adopted from Florida. Sadly, she was surrendered to the Animal Shelter due to an inclination for escape. The dedicated team at the Animal Shelter and her trainers confirm that this young lady is the most outgoing, friendly pup who enjoys meeting new friends. To say that Jitterbug is a social butterfly would be an understatement. This sweet girl has so much love to give, is full of energy and can be adopted to a home with older children, other dogs (preferably her size) and possibly cats. She is an absolute crowd-pleasing delight, who would make a wonderful addition to a household looking for a fun-loving companion.

Adoption Cannoli

Cannoli is a stunning and affectionate black and white, domestic short hair, estimated to be eight years young. Cannoli has endured some unfortunate circumstances losing her special person twice in her life, at no fault of her own.  She was first surrendered to the shelter when her beloved owner relocated to assisted living. Cannoli was adopted for the second time, but when her owner passed away suddenly she returned to the Smithtown Animal Shelter heartbroken. Despite her hardships, this fabulous little feline remains friendly and outgoing, and is ready to find her FINAL forever-ever family.  Upon making Cannoli’s acquaintance, this deliciously sweet gal will melt your heart… much like a perfect Italian pastry does. She is very comfortable around people and enjoys being on both the giving and receiving end where attention and TLC is concerned. Cannoli is perfect for most any home, from a large family with kids, homes with other cats, and even mellow dogs.

For more information about adopting Jitterbug or Cannoli, please fill out an application https://www.townofsmithtownanimalshelter.com/applications or call the shelter at 631-360-7575 for more information.

Adoption Crackers

At just 3-years-old, Cap’n Crackers was saved from the euthanasia list at the NYACC after being brought in with a head injury and a URI. Cap’n has made an amazing recovery in foster and continues to say thank you with cuddles. Let this Cap’n lead the way to love!

Adoption Cassidy

Cassidy has been with Lend-a-Paw since kittenhood and has come so far. Now 2-years-old, this formerly shy feline is now the star who cannot get enough of toys and playtime. She is waiting for that special someone to give her a chance to show how amazing she is at her own pace.

Adoption Queenie

Meet Queenie! This gorgeous 3-year-old girl was saved from the euthanasia list in NYC earlier this year but has been nothing but the biggest love bug since coming to Lend-a-Paw. She is slowly but surely making feline friends but as her name states, she is the queen bee and would do best around cats and people who understand when she just needs some beauty sleep.

Adoption Whisper

Lucky Whisper was saved from the kill shelter in Louisiana. She came to Lend-a-Paw with severe skin allergies which made her super uncomfortable. Her skin has since healed after going to the vet and getting lots of TLC from her foster. She loves to snuggle just as much as play. Whisper needs a forever home that will give her all the love she needs and deserves. She is good with dogs, cats and kids!

Adoption Kryptonite

Introducing Kryptonite! In the latter part of July 2023, Kryptonite’s life took a positive turn as she was rescued from the Euthanasia list in NYC. While she may be feeling scared and bewildered by recent events, she has begun to form connections with the female staff members, although it’s taking a bit more time with the male staff. Kryptonite possesses an independent spirit, taking pleasure in pursuing her own interests. However, she will greatly benefit from an experienced adopter who understands the need for her to undergo a decompression process. Her interactions with other dogs and cats remain unknown at this time.

ADOPTION KODA

For Koda, teamwork made the dream work. Koda a fan favorite at Babylon Animal Shelter, and her amazing and bubbly personality brought her to Lend-a Paw. She needs a family that is as active as she is, and would do best in a no kid, only pet family. The rescue is providing training for her future family as well, so don’t miss the opportunity to adopt the cutest girl on the block!

Adoption Jezzy

*Senior Alert* Nine-year-old Jezzy returned to Animal League America due to a recent crisis. They welcomed her back with all the reassurances she needs to put her best paws forward in search of a loving and committed adopter. Jezzy deserves a peaceful home to make her feel safe and a family with older children and no other pets will help put her at ease and start her new beginning.

Adoption Zen

*Double Adoption* Bonded seven-month-old brothers Zen and Remi have a lot of concerns about life on the inside after being locally rescued from the great outdoors. The more time they spend being pampered indoors by gentle, loving humans, the more they’re going to be won over by a pawsitive shift in their lifestyle. While Zen prides himself in being the life of the party, the more cautious Remi would appreciate a cat-experienced home with older children.

Adoption Rafy

*Double Adoption* Bonded nine-month-olds Rafy and Gabi came all the way from Puerto Rico to New York to get their fresh start! Gabi is the guiding hand that Rafy needs for emotional support. They shine brightly and at their best when they’re side by side.

Adoption Oona

Three-year-old old Oona was found by a good Samaritan and brought to Animal League America alongside her kittens where dedicated vets tended to Oona and her litter. Although she won’t require treatment for her visual impairment or being FIV+, Oona would thrive with a gentle hand to reassure her that she is safe and sound.

Adoption Africa

Six-month-old Africa journeyed all the way from Puerto Rico to New York. You might assume that this darling tortie would need help due to her impaired vision but she’s completely undeterred by any limitations. If daily inspiration is what you’re looking for, join Africa on a great adventure!

Adoption Nicky

*Double Adoption* The sudden loss of their owner left Nicky and Fletcher shaken until the heroes at Animal League America whisked them away to safety. These engaging soulmates have handled the changes in their lifestyle with dignity and gratitude. Eight-year-old Fletcher loves greeting each newcomer like a suave host, with a chirp. His charming demeanor provides six-year-old Nicky with a dependable friend to count on a boost his confidence needs. Become Nicky and Fletcher’s new family today!

Adoption Puffin

Pretty ten-month-old Puffin lost her first home due to allergies. There’s no better place for a fresh start than at Animal League America where the beds are comfy and treats flow aplenty. While she may feel her life has turned upside down, she knows her next home will love her as much as Animal League does. How can anyone resist her wide eyes and velvety fur? Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter

Adoption Kiki

Kiki is an 8-year-old calico cat who originally came to the shelter as an owner surrender. She is extremely social and needs someone who will spend time playing with her. She loves to be pet but needs love on her terms. Give her the time she needs to really open up to you and her true beauty shines. Kiki really loves mouse toys, “Churu” treats, boxes and sitting on the windowsill. She gets nervous with fast-paced movements, so a low-traffic home would be best for her. She is just so beautiful and ready for her forever home!

Adoption Orson

Orson is the shelter’s beloved 2.5 yr. old Bulldog Mix.  With his Low-Rider with bulldog face, lover of walks and hikes, and his nose to the ground always (like a beagle), he is 56 pounds of cuteness! He is working daily on leash manners, (he LOVES to sniff and explore the great outdoors). He gives great eye contact, loves a head rub, back scratch and takes treats gently. He is the built-in best friend/sibling that you have been waiting for! He is crate trained, appears to be house-broken (hasn’t had an accidents in the office he is currently living in), and he has the world’s best slobber! When he is ready to snuggle up for a nap, he goes into his crate on his own, curls up on his blankets and goes to dream-world. He likes toys, but doesn’t really understand what fetch is, and with consistency of engagement and training he is ready to take on the world!
